Surgery or Chemoradiotherapy for Cervical Esophageal Cancer

This study is comparing surgery versus combined chemotherapy and radiation (chemoradiotherapy) for treating cancer of the cervical esophagus (the upper part of the food pipe in the neck), to find out which approach gives better outcomes. **You may be eligible if...** - You are 18–75 years old - You have been diagnosed with resectable squamous cell carcinoma of the cervical esophagus - Your cancer has not spread to distant organs (stages T1b–T4a, N0–N3, M0) - Your blood counts and organ functions are within acceptable ranges - You have an ECOG performance status of 0 or 1 (meaning you are fully active or mildly limited) **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have another active cancer - You have a mental illness preventing participation - You have a bleeding disorder - You are pregnant or breastfeeding - You have a known allergy to paclitaxel or cisplatin Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
