Acupuncture Therapy and Hypertension

This study is testing whether acupuncture can help lower blood pressure in people with mild to moderate hypertension, with or without blood pressure medication. **You may be eligible if...** - You are 45–75 years old - You have mild to moderate high blood pressure (office systolic BP 140–160 mmHg, or average 24-hour monitor reading of 130–145 mmHg) - You do not have resting EKG changes suggesting heart disease (no ST elevation or depression) **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You are pregnant or nursing - You have coronary artery disease, significant heart rhythm problems, severe hypertension (over 170/110 mmHg), peripheral vascular disease, or diabetic nerve damage - You have orthopedic conditions that significantly limit daily activity - You have known skin sensitivities to topical preparations or medical tapes - You are unwilling or unable to provide informed consent Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
