Plain Language Summary
Simplified for easier understanding
This study looks at whether wearing a night cast (a brace worn while sleeping) and doing regular stretching exercises can improve foot movement and overall function in young people with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT). CMT is an inherited nerve condition that can cause weakness and reduced movement in the feet and ankles.
You may be eligible if:
- You are between 7 and 20 years old
- You have been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (any type)
- You have limited ability to bend your foot upward (restricted dorsiflexion)
You may NOT be eligible if:
- You have had surgery on your foot or ankle
- You have had a recent ankle sprain or foot fracture
- You have been doing a stretching program in the last 2 months
