Metabolic Effects of SERMs (Selective Oestrogen Receptor Modulators) in healthy men and healthy postmenopausal women

This study is investigating the effects of two commonly used medications — raloxifene and tamoxifen — on metabolism and the growth hormone system. These medications belong to a class called SERMs (Selective Oestrogen Receptor Modulators) and are used in conditions like breast cancer prevention and osteoporosis. Researchers want to compare how these drugs affect healthy older men and post-menopausal women who are the same age, to better understand how oestrogen-related pathways influence the body. You may be eligible if: - You are between 50 and 80 years of age - You are a healthy post-menopausal woman OR a healthy man in the same age range You may NOT be eligible if: - You have obesity - You have diabetes - You have a history of cancer - You have kidney or liver disease - You have a history of deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in the legs) Talk to your doctor about whether this trial might be right for you.
