Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study is for people experiencing complicated grief — an intense, prolonged form of grief after losing a loved one that does not get better over time and significantly interferes with daily life. Three types of therapy are being compared: CBT with exposure (deliberately engaging with memories of the loss), CBT without exposure, and skills training. Participants will attend a combination of group and individual sessions. Researchers want to find out which approach helps most with grief recovery. You may be eligible if: - You are between 18 and 80 years old - You have lost a loved one - You meet the diagnostic criteria for complicated grief - Your grief has been ongoing for at least 6 months You may NOT be eligible if: - You have a psychotic illness - You are dependent on alcohol or substances - You have an active intent to harm yourself Talk to your doctor about whether this trial might be right for you.
