Summary

Our purpose is to evaluate the pelvic floor muscles during pregnancy and after childbirth, comparing the results of these evaluations, and the training of these muscles has some efficacy in the incidence of urinary incontinence in labor and delivery in perineal lacerations in type of delivery, if you change the blood glucose levels after exercise, if there is any difference in muscle fibers in women who performed compared with those who do not exercise, assess the level of sexual function and quality of life of the volunteers

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study is looking at whether doing pelvic floor muscle exercises during pregnancy helps reduce leaking urine (urinary incontinence), improves labour and delivery outcomes, and benefits overall pelvic health for women and their babies. Researchers will track muscle strength before and after delivery and compare women who exercise with those who don't. You may be eligible if: - You are a woman aged 18 to 40 years - You are pregnant and less than 20 weeks along - This is your first pregnancy (nulliparous) - You have a single, normally located pregnancy - You have low-risk pregnancy (or gestational diabetes is allowed) - You do not currently exercise regularly (more than twice per week for over 30 minutes) You may NOT be eligible if: - You already exercise regularly (more than twice a week for more than 30 minutes) - You have a condition that prevents or limits exercise during pregnancy - You are allergic to latex (used in the examination device) Talk to your doctor about whether this trial might be right for you.

The Participants of the training group will participate in individual weekly 20 minutes sessions of pelvic flor muscle training (PFMT) supervise by two physiotherapists with the same background during 12 or 17 weeks. The number of sessions during pregnany will be determined according to the gestational age at which it is in the first evaluation
