Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study tests whether a medication called silodosin — which relaxes the muscles of the ureter (the tube connecting the kidney to the bladder) — can help people pass kidney stones naturally without surgery. This approach is called medical expulsive therapy. The study focuses on people with painful stones stuck in the lower ureter that are larger than 5mm. You may be eligible if: - You are between 20 and 60 years of age - You have a symptomatic (painful) kidney stone stuck in your lower ureter that is larger than 5mm - The stone shows up clearly on an X-ray You may NOT be eligible if: - You have a urinary tract infection - You have severe kidney blockage (high-grade hydronephrosis) - You have diabetes - You have a stomach ulcer - You have a known allergy to alpha-1 blocker medications - You are pregnant - You have low blood pressure (systolic below 110 mmHg) - You have a history of stones passing on their own before Talk to your doctor about whether this trial might be right for you.

This is a simplified summary. Always discuss eligibility with your doctor before enrolling in a clinical trial.
