Summary

This clinical trial studies wide-field and high resolution in vivo imaging in visualizing lesions in patients with abnormal or uncontrolled oral cell growth (neoplasia) undergoing surgery. Diagnostic procedures, such as wide-field and high resolution in vivo imaging, are devices that let researchers look at a wide area of the lining of the mouth by shining different colors inside the mouth and taking pictures and this may help doctors to decide if a mouth lesion has a high risk of being pre-cancerous or cancerous.

Min Age: 18 Years

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study uses two advanced imaging tools — wide-field and high-resolution microscopic imaging — during surgery to help doctors see the full extent of mouth (oral) cancers and get a clearer picture of tumor edges in real time. **You may be eligible if...** - You are an adult with a mouth (oral) lesion or tumor who is scheduled for surgery or biopsy of the head and neck area - Prior treatment for oral cancer is allowed - You are willing and able to sign a consent form **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have a known allergy to proflavine or acriflavine (dyes used during imaging) - You are pregnant or breastfeeding - You are actively receiving an experimental drug or treatment on another clinical trial Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
