This study tests whether a decision-making tool can help women newly diagnosed with breast cancer make a more informed choice about whether to remove the healthy breast (contralateral prophylactic mastectomy) as a preventive measure, when there is no genetic reason requiring it. **You may be eligible if...** - You have been newly diagnosed with breast cancer (stage I–III) or a pre-cancer condition called DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) - Your breast cancer is in one breast only (not both) - You are able to read, write, and speak English **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have had breast cancer before - You have already had a preventive double mastectomy - You carry a gene mutation (such as BRCA1 or BRCA2) or are otherwise considered high-risk, which would make the decision medically clearer This decision aid ensures women are making a truly informed and personal choice, rather than one driven by fear or incomplete information.
