Accurate Staging of Immuno-virological Dynamics During Acute HIV Infection

This study is carefully characterizing the very early stages of HIV infection — the first days and weeks after someone is infected — by testing and monitoring people who were recently exposed or are showing early symptoms, to better understand how the immune system responds. **You may be eligible if...** - You have been recently diagnosed with a new (acute) HIV-1 infection - You show signs of early HIV infection: either early symptoms, an incomplete Western blot test result, or a recent negative HIV test (within 6 months) - OR you had a known risk exposure within the past 3 months with signs pointing to early infection - You are able and willing to provide informed consent - You are able to attend regular follow-up visits (or at least a partial schedule) **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You do not have documented recent HIV-1 infection - You are unwilling or unable to provide informed consent - You cannot attend the scheduled visits Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
