ECMO Treatment of Children in China in the Past 10 Years

This study is reviewing the outcomes of children in mainland China who were treated with Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) over the past 10 years. ECMO is a life-saving machine that takes over the work of the heart and lungs when they are too sick to function on their own. It is used in critically ill children with severe heart or lung failure. This is a retrospective study — meaning it looks back at medical records rather than enrolling patients for new treatment. The goal is to understand patterns of ECMO use in Chinese pediatric hospitals, how outcomes have changed over time, and what factors predict survival or complications. This data can help improve ECMO care for critically ill children in the future.
