Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study examines whether a special high-fat formula rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) can improve nutrition and liver outcomes in infants who have undergone the Kasai procedure for biliary atresia — a serious liver condition present at birth where the bile ducts are blocked or absent, preventing bile from draining from the liver. Proper nutrition is critical to these babies' survival and liver health. You may be eligible if: - Your infant is under 3 months of age and has biliary atresia - Your infant has undergone the Kasai procedure (hepatoportoenterostomy) You may NOT be eligible if: - Your infant has cirrhosis, hepatitis, or other liver disorders in addition to biliary atresia - Your infant has other serious systemic diseases such as congenital malformations or chromosomal abnormalities Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
