Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study is investigating why some people develop diabetes after having acute pancreatitis (a sudden, severe inflammation of the pancreas). Researchers are tracking patients over time to understand the mechanisms involved. **You may be eligible if...** - You were diagnosed with acute pancreatitis in the past 0–90 days - You are able to participate in follow-up visits, phone interviews, and metabolic tests **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You already have a confirmed diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis - You have signs of permanent pancreatic damage on scans (calcifications or scarring) - You had a prior diagnosis of Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes before the pancreatitis episode (in some cases) Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.

This summary was AI-generated to explain the trial in plain language. It is not medical advice. Always discuss eligibility with your doctor before enrolling in a clinical trial.
