Conditions

Summary

This study is evaluating the management of chronic post-operative inguinal hernia pain and the impact of hernia mesh removal after previous minimally invasive inguinal hernia repairs. The study aims are to evaluate the change in chronic (\>6 months), nociceptive, postoperative inguinal pain after mesh removal compared to no mesh removal in patients who have previously undergone minimally invasive inguinal hernia repair with pre-peritoneal mesh.

Eligibility

Min Age: 18 Years

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This trial studies whether surgically removing the mesh placed during a prior laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair can relieve chronic groin pain. Some patients develop persistent pain after hernia surgery, and this study aims to find out if taking the mesh out helps. You may be eligible if: - You are over 18 years old - You have had chronic groin pain for more than 6 months after laparoscopic or robotic hernia repair with mesh - Your pain shows features of nociceptive pain (pressure-type, not burning or shooting) - Your pain is moderate to severe (4–10 on a pain scale) when going from lying to standing You may NOT be eligible if: - Your pain is mild (0–3 on the scale) - You have a recurrent inguinal hernia - You previously had open (front) hernia repair or mesh plugs - You have had prostatectomy or pelvic/groin vascular surgery Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
