Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study compares two options for older adults who have had small colon polyps removed: a follow-up colonoscopy versus a stool-based test — to see which is equally effective and easier for patients. You may be eligible if: - You speak English or Spanish - You have a personal history of colon polyps - Your most recent colonoscopy found 2 or fewer small, non-advanced polyps - You are currently due (or coming due within 12 months) for a follow-up colonoscopy - You are able and willing to provide informed consent You may NOT be eligible if: - You have a personal history of colorectal cancer - You have Lynch Syndrome, Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), or another hereditary condition raising your colon cancer risk - You have inflammatory bowel disease (like ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease) - Your last colonoscopy found advanced polyps, or 3 or more polyps - You have serious health problems that make colon cancer screening unlikely to benefit you (such as recent heart surgery, heart failure, severe lung disease, recent stroke, advanced dementia, severe liver or kidney disease, or a new cancer diagnosis in the past year) Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
