Summary

This is a randomized controlled trial using a non-inferiority design with the subjects randomized 1:1 to either water vapour thermal treatment (REZUM) arm or transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) arm.

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This trial is comparing two procedures for men who cannot urinate due to an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH): a newer water vapor treatment (called Rezūm) versus the traditional surgical procedure (TURP, transurethral resection of the prostate). **You may be eligible if...** - You are a man aged 50–80 - You are unable to urinate on your own due to BPH and currently require a urinary catheter - Your prostate is between 30–80 ml in size on ultrasound **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have had prior prostate surgery - You have or are suspected to have prostate cancer - You have a urethral stricture (narrowing), bladder stone, or underactive bladder - You have neurological conditions affecting bladder function (e.g. Parkinson's disease, stroke) - You take blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder that cannot be corrected Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
