Atrial Functional Mitral Regurgitation and Tricuspid Regurgitation

This study is examining a type of leaky heart valve problem called atrial functional mitral and/or tricuspid regurgitation — where the valves do not close properly because of atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) causing the heart's upper chambers to enlarge. Researchers are collecting detailed echocardiography (heart ultrasound) data to better understand this condition and its outcomes. **You may be eligible if:** - You are 18 years or older - You have atrial fibrillation (an irregular, often rapid heart rhythm) - You have moderate or severe leakiness of the mitral valve and/or tricuspid valve related to atrial enlargement - You have good-quality heart ultrasound (echocardiogram) images available across multiple standard views **You may NOT be eligible if:** - You are unwilling or unable to provide consent - Your heart's main pumping chamber (left ventricle) has weak pumping function (ejection fraction below 50%) - Your valve problem is caused by a structural defect in the valve itself (primary or organic valve disease), rather than from atrial enlargement Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
