This study is evaluating the safety of using laparoscopic (minimally invasive keyhole) surgery to remove large gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) — a type of stomach tumor — that are 5 cm or bigger. **You may be eligible if...** - You are between 18 and 75 years old - You have been diagnosed with a primary gastric GIST (a tumor in the stomach wall) confirmed before or after surgery - Your tumor is located in the stomach - You are healthy enough to undergo laparoscopic surgery **You may NOT be eligible if...** - Your GIST is not in the stomach (e.g., located in the intestine) - You have signs that the tumor has spread (metastasis) - You have had prior surgery on this tumor - You have significant other health conditions making surgery unsafe Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
