Study Assessing the Effects of Early Psychiatric Referral on Mental Health and Quality of Life in People With Sarcoma

This trial is testing whether early referral to psychiatry or psychology (at the time of diagnosis) improves mental health and quality of life for people newly diagnosed with bone or soft tissue sarcoma, compared to receiving mental health support only when needed later in treatment. **You may be eligible if:** - You are 18 or older - You have been diagnosed (or have a high suspicion of diagnosis) with a primary bone or soft tissue sarcoma - You are presenting to the Orthopaedic Surgery Service and plan to have surgery at MSK - You have not been previously treated for sarcoma - You speak English fluently and prefer English for healthcare discussions **You may NOT be eligible if:** - You have a significant pre-existing psychiatric condition that would make study participation unsafe (e.g., severe mental illness, prior psychiatric hospitalizations, or history of suicide attempts) - You are in an urgent or emergency mental health crisis at the time of enrollment Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
