A Prospective Trial Comparing Transoral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy Vestibular Approach (TOETVA) and Conventional Open Thyroidectomy

This study is comparing two surgical approaches for thyroid removal: the standard open neck incision versus a newer technique that operates through small cuts inside the lower lip (transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach, or TOETVA), which leaves no visible scar on the neck. **You may be eligible if...** - You have a benign (non-cancerous) thyroid nodule smaller than 4 cm - Or you have a suspected small thyroid cancer (under 2 cm) that is appropriate for minimally invasive surgery - You are 18 years old or older - You have no prior neck surgery or radiation to the head/neck region **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You are under 18 years old - You cannot safely have general anesthesia - You are pregnant or have cognitive impairment - Your thyroid cancer is larger than 2 cm or has spread to lymph nodes or other organs - Your goiter extends into the chest (retrosternal) - Your BMI is over 35 - You have untreated infection or a bleeding disorder Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
