Study for Wait and Watch Suitable in Rectal Cancer

This study looks at a strategy called 'watch and wait' for rectal cancer patients who responded very well to initial treatment. Instead of immediately undergoing surgery (which can be life-changing), some patients can be closely monitored to see if the cancer stays away. This trial collects data on how well this approach works. **You may be eligible if...** - You are over 18 and have been diagnosed with locally advanced rectal cancer - Your cancer responded very well to initial chemo-radiation (TNT or LCRT) and you are being managed with a watch-and-wait approach - Your tumor is in the lower or middle part of the rectum (within 7 cm of the anal opening) - Your cancer is a specific type (adenocarcinoma, non-mucinous/non-signet cell) **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have not undergone initial treatment aimed at watch-and-wait - Your tumor is a high-risk or spread-around-the-circumference type - You are enrolled in another active interventional rectal cancer trial Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
