Summary

This study aims to explore the differences in autonomic nervous function and meridian energy between schizophrenia patients and healthy individuals. By understanding the meridian and organ conditions of individuals, the study aims to align with the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) concept of "treating disease before it arises" and provide comprehensive care to patients, thereby improving the quality of care.

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study is investigating how the autonomic nervous system (the part of your nervous system that controls automatic functions like heart rate and breathing) and a concept from traditional Chinese medicine called "meridian energy" differ between people with schizophrenia and healthy individuals. It is an observational study — no new treatment is being tested. **You may be eligible if...** - Disease group: You have a confirmed diagnosis of schizophrenia, your condition is stable, and your medication and dosage have not changed in the past 3 months. You are between 18 and 65 years old and can communicate in Mandarin or Taiwanese. - Control group: You have no chronic illness, no recent acute symptoms in the past month, are between 18 and 65, and can communicate in Mandarin or Taiwanese. **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have cardiovascular disease, serious neurological disorders, or early-stage dementia - You have had medication changes or a hospital admission for psychiatric reasons in the last 3 months (disease group) - You have chronic illness or recent acute symptoms (control group) Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
