Conditions

Summary

The study aims to investigate neural correlate of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) in Parkinson's disease (PD) and to identify a link between functional impairment (in both cognitive and motor domains) and electrophysiological cortical sing of MCI in PD. A sample of 42 subjects will be divide into three subgroup: healthy control, PD with MCI (PD-MCI) and PD without MCI (PD-ctrl). Those subjects will undergo a specific neuropsychological evaluation and, to measure the electro-cortical activity, high-density electroencephalography (hdEEG) will be record during both resting state and cognitive tasks. Furthermore, hdEEG data will be combine with structural magnetic resonance to obtain information about network connectivity.

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study is examining the brain's electrical activity in people with mild cognitive impairment (early memory or thinking problems) and those with Parkinson's disease, using high-density EEG (a cap with many sensors placed on the scalp) to better understand these conditions. **You may be eligible if...** - You score above a certain threshold on standard memory/thinking tests (MMSE or MoCA) - If you take memory or mood medications, you have been on a stable dose for at least 4 weeks - You are willing and able to give informed consent **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have severe dementia - You have been on antipsychotic medications for less than 3 months - You have uncontrolled health conditions - You have metal implants or other reasons you cannot have an MRI - You cannot walk independently Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
