This small pilot study is testing whether taking synbiotics (a combination of probiotics and prebiotics — beneficial bacteria and the food that feeds them) can help reduce symptoms of mild to moderate depression by improving gut health. **You may be eligible if...** - You are 18 or older - You have mild to moderate depression symptoms (PHQ-9 score between 5 and 14) - You are able to read and complete questionnaires **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have a current substance abuse or dependence problem - You have a history of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorder, PTSD, intellectual disability, or neurodegenerative disease (e.g., Parkinson's) - You are in immediate psychiatric crisis or have attempted suicide in the past 3 months - You are currently taking antipsychotics, antidepressants, or sedatives — unless the dose has been stable for at least 4 weeks Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
