Antibiotic Prophylaxis in Patients Undergoing GVO

This study is investigating whether preventive antibiotics should be given to people with liver disease who are undergoing an endoscopic procedure to treat gastric varices (enlarged veins in the stomach caused by liver disease or liver cancer). **You may be eligible if...** - You have been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis and/or hepatoma (liver cancer) - You are between 20 and 85 years old - You are scheduled for or recently had an endoscopic procedure targeting gastric varices (enlarged veins in the stomach, specifically when gastric varices are the primary concern) **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have a terminal illness affecting a major organ such as heart failure, kidney failure, or COPD (severe lung disease) - You have recently taken antibiotics - You have a suspected active infection Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
