Summary

Research question: Can multiparametric renal Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) provide structural and functional assessment of the kidneys to deliver prognostic information and guide treatment options in chronic kidney disease (CKD)? Aims and objectives: 1. To establish a multiparametric renal MRI protocol in CKD cohorts. 2. To use multiparametric MRI to characterise people with and without CKD progression. 3. To compare multiparametric renal MRI with 'gold-standard' renal biopsy to determine pathological processes of CKD progression that are detectable by MRI.

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study is using specialized MRI scans of the kidneys to better measure and monitor kidney function in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), aiming to find more accurate ways to track disease progression than current blood tests alone. **You may be eligible if...** - You are between 18 and 75 years old - You have chronic kidney disease at Stage 3 or 4, OR Stage 1-2 with significant protein leakage in your urine (albuminuria) - You are able to give informed consent **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) - You have active glomerulonephritis (kidney inflammation) currently on immune-suppressing medications - You have multiple myeloma (a bone marrow cancer) - You had an acute kidney injury in the last 90 days - You have had an organ transplant - You have only one kidney - You have a reason you cannot undergo an MRI (such as a pacemaker, metal implants, or severe claustrophobia) Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
