Prediction of Outcome by Echocardiography in Left Bundle Branch Block

Prediction of Heart-failure and Mortality by Echocardiographic Parameters and Machine Learning in Individuals With Left Bundle Branch Block

Conditions

Summary

Patients with left bundle branch block have an increased risk for the development of heart-failure and death. However, risk factors for unfavorable outcomes are still poorly defined. This study aims to identify echocardiographic parameters and ECG characteristics by machine learning in order to develop individual risk assessment

Eligibility

Min Age: 18 YearsMax Age: 100 Years

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study uses heart ultrasound (echocardiography) to predict outcomes in patients with left bundle branch block — a heart electrical conduction problem — or in patients with a cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) device already implanted. The aim is to find better imaging markers that predict how patients will do over time. **You may be eligible if...** - You have an abnormal electrical pattern in your heart (QRS duration over 130 ms and specific R-wave findings), OR - Your heart is paced more than 50% of the time by a pacemaker, OR - You already have a cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) device implanted **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have a typical right bundle branch block - You cannot give informed consent - You have a serious non-heart-related condition with a life expectancy under 1 year - You have complex congenital (from birth) heart disease Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
