Conditions

Summary

High-resolution MRI (7 Tesla) of the cervical spine is capable to differentiate osseous spurs from discus-material and better depict the compressed nerve in the neuroforamen compared to 3T MRI. Provide the surgeon with a detailed high-resolution anatomical image before surgery and potential no need for CT (if the bony anatomy is of crucial importance).

Eligibility

Min Age: 18 Years

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study is comparing 7 Tesla (7T) MRI — an extremely high-resolution MRI system — with the standard 3 Tesla (3T) MRI for imaging the cervical spine (neck). The cervical spine contains the nerves that travel from the brain down into the arms and hands, and conditions like foraminal stenosis (nerve channel narrowing) and disc problems can cause neck pain, arm numbness, and weakness. While standard MRI is the current diagnostic tool, 7T MRI offers much greater detail and may reveal abnormalities that are missed at lower field strengths. Participants are patients already scheduled for surgery or injections for cervical spine problems. They receive both types of MRI and the images are compared to see whether 7T provides clinically meaningful additional information. You may be eligible if: - You are over 18 years old - You have neck pain with radiculopathy (nerve pain into the arm) - You are scheduled for surgery for foraminal or central stenosis, OR scheduled for cervical nerve root injection therapy You may NOT be eligible if: - You have had previous spine surgery - You are a tumor patient - You are pregnant or breastfeeding - You have any contraindication to MRI (metallic implants, pacemaker, etc.) Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
