The Glaucoma Nicotinamide Trial

This study tests whether nicotinamide (a form of vitamin B3) can slow the progression of glaucoma and protect the optic nerve, compared to standard eye pressure-lowering treatment alone. **You may be eligible if...** - You are an adult (18+) with newly diagnosed and untreated open-angle glaucoma or pseudoexfoliative glaucoma - Your vision is reasonably good (6/12 or better) - You have had at least two reliable visual field tests **You may NOT be eligible if...** - Your glaucoma is already quite advanced (visual field worse than -10 dB in the better eye) - Your eye pressure is 35 mmHg or higher - You already take nicotinamide or niacin supplements - You are allergic to nicotinamide or niacin - You have been diagnosed with cancer in the last 5 years (except certain skin cancers) - You have liver disease or are pregnant/breastfeeding Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
