The SOAR Study: a Study of Geriatric Assessment and Exercise for Older Adults and Their Support Person

The SOAR Study provides a comprehensive geriatric assessment and an exercise program for older adults (65+) with cancer who are starting chemotherapy or immunotherapy. It also includes a support person (family member or caregiver) in the program. The goal is to improve well-being, strength, and quality of life during treatment. **You may be eligible if...** - You are 65 years or older - You have been diagnosed with lung, gastrointestinal, breast, gynecologic, genitourinary cancer, or lymphoma - You are about to start chemotherapy or immunotherapy (or have received no more than 4 weeks so far) - A doctor estimates you have a life expectancy of at least 6 months - You have a family member or caregiver willing to participate with you **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You are under 65 years old - You have already been on systemic treatment for more than 4 weeks - You do not have a support person to participate with you - You are physically unable to engage in a light exercise program - Your expected survival is less than 6 months Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
