Proximal Gastrectomy Anterior Anastomosis With Pyloroplasty Versus Esophagogastric Anastomosis for Gastric Cancer

This study compares two surgical techniques for patients with stomach (gastric) cancer who need removal of the upper part of their stomach (proximal gastrectomy). Researchers are comparing a new approach (anterior anastomosis with pyloroplasty) to the standard approach (connecting the food pipe directly to the remaining stomach) to see which leads to better eating ability and fewer complications. **You may be eligible if...** - You have been diagnosed with stomach adenocarcinoma (the most common type of stomach cancer) at stages T1 through T4 - You are in good general health (ECOG 0 or 1) - Your organ function meets the required levels for surgery **You may NOT be eligible if...** - Your cancer has spread to distant organs - The cancer has grown more than 3 cm into the esophagus (food pipe) - You have a very large or diffusely spreading tumor (Borrmann type 4 or large type 3 over 8 cm) - You have previously received chemotherapy or radiation for another cancer - You are unable to give informed consent Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
