Virtual Reality in COPD Exacerbation

This study tests whether virtual reality therapy can reduce anxiety and breathing difficulty in people hospitalized for a COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) flare-up, as an addition to standard medical care. **You may be eligible if...** - You are experiencing a COPD exacerbation (a flare-up where your breathing has gotten significantly worse) - Your lung function is reduced (FEV1 less than 70%, GOLD stage 2–3) - You score adequately on a basic mental alertness test (Hodkinson score above 6) - You are willing to voluntarily participate **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have another respiratory disease more serious than COPD (like lung cancer, bronchiectasis, or asthma) - You have severe heart failure (NYHA stage 3–4) - You have had lung surgery (volume reduction or transplant) or pneumonectomy in the past 6 months - You have a pulmonary embolism, pulmonary edema, or acute heart attack - You have vertigo, epilepsy, or significant vision problems (which could be worsened by virtual reality) Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
