Conditions

Summary

The standard method for localizing non-palpable breast cancer is currently preoperative wire-guided localization, its positive margin rate still remains around 20-50%. This study aims to compare the accuracy and efficacy of wire vs. combined breast tissue markers in localizing non-palpable breast cancer.

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study is comparing two methods of locating non-palpable (not able to be felt by hand) breast cancers before surgery — using one localization technique versus two combined — to see which approach helps surgeons achieve cleaner margins (complete removal of cancer). **You may be eligible if...** - You are female and 18 or older - You have been diagnosed with non-palpable (not feelable) breast cancer that was found by needle biopsy - Your cancer is in situ (pre-invasive) or early-stage invasive breast cancer that requires surgical localization before removal - You are planning to have breast-conserving surgery (not full mastectomy) - You have an ECOG performance score of 2 or higher **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You have inflammatory breast cancer or Paget's disease - You have significant breast deformities or other conditions that prevent breast-conserving surgery Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
