This study is testing inhaled nitric oxide — a gas delivered directly to the lungs — as a treatment for people with moderate to severe COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a serious lung condition). **You may be eligible if...** - You are between 40 and 75 years old - You have a smoking history of at least 10 pack-years and have not smoked for at least one month - You have moderate to severe COPD confirmed by breathing tests - You are able to provide informed consent **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You are pregnant or breastfeeding - You currently use nicotine products (patches, etc.) - You have asthma or another non-COPD lung disease - You had a COPD flare-up requiring oral steroids in the past month - Your heart's pumping function is reduced (ejection fraction below 50%) - You have significant heart valve disease Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
