Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This study looks at how often people return to sports activities at least 3 years after receiving a total knee replacement, comparing three different prosthesis designs: medial pivot, mobile bearing, and cruciate retaining. Knee replacement surgery is often performed for osteoarthritis, but little is known about which implant design best supports an active lifestyle afterward. French patients who received one of these three types of knee implants between 2018 and 2020 are eligible to participate, excluding those who had bilateral replacements, revision surgery, or lower limb deformities. Participation involves a single telephone interview and completing questionnaires electronically about physical function, quality of life, and sports activity — no clinic visits are required. This summary was generated with AI assistance to help patients understand the study in plain language.
