Conditions
Summary
To develop and validate a structured scoring tool (robotic thyroidectomy assessment score, RTAS) for assessing and quantifying surgical performance in robotic thyroidectomy (RT).
Eligibility
Plain Language Summary
Simplified for easier understanding
This study is developing and validating a standardized assessment tool to measure surgical skill and competency during robotic-assisted thyroid surgery. Researchers will record operations and score them to create a reliable grading system for training and quality assurance.
**You may be eligible if...**
- You have been diagnosed with differentiated thyroid cancer with a maximum tumor size of 4 cm, OR a benign (non-cancerous) thyroid nodule up to 6 cm
- You have high cosmetic expectations (preferring to avoid a visible neck scar)
- You underwent robotic thyroidectomy without needing to convert to open surgery
**You may NOT be eligible if...**
- You have a history of prior neck surgery or radiation to the neck
- You have vocal cord paralysis on the opposite side to the thyroid being operated on
- Imaging suggests the cancer has invaded nearby structures
- Your neck lymph nodes are fused together or fixed (suggesting advanced spread)
