Plain Language Summary
Simplified for easier understanding
This study tests whether having your family doctor (general practitioner) actively involved in a lung cancer screening program — using low-dose CT scans — improves participation rates and outcomes in people at high risk for lung cancer due to heavy smoking history.
**You may be eligible if...**
- You are between 50 and 74 years old
- You are a current smoker or you stopped smoking less than 15 years ago
- You have smoked heavily — at least 20 pack-years (e.g., 1 pack per day for 20 years)
- You are registered with a social security scheme in France
**You may NOT be eligible if...**
- You have a history of lung cancer
- You had a chest CT scan within the past year
- You are unable to travel independently to a participating hospital for scans
- You have severe health problems that would prevent treatment of any detected lung cancer
- You have significant breathing difficulty at rest
- You have recently lost a lot of weight, feel very unwell, or have been coughing up blood (which may suggest active cancer requiring immediate attention)
