Summary

The primary goal of this project is to describe the clinical and physiologic characteristics of Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissections (SCAD) in order to increase awareness, understanding, treatment and prevention of a potentially fatal cardiovascular event. This study will be a retrospective and prospective review of medical course and current health of men and women with SCAD.

This registry collects data from patients who have experienced Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) — a rare but serious cause of heart attack where the inner wall of a heart artery tears without an obvious cause. The registry especially seeks underrepresented groups and high-priority cases to improve understanding of this condition. You may be eligible if: - You were treated at Mayo Clinic with a confirmed SCAD diagnosis - You experienced SCAD while pregnant or within 12 months after giving birth - You identify as Black/African American, Asian, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, or Hispanic of any race - You are a man who experienced SCAD - You are under 30 years of age and experienced SCAD - You experienced a SCAD event within the past 2 weeks - You are enrolling in another Mayo Clinic SCAD research study - A family member has also had a SCAD event You may NOT be eligible if: - You have a history of SCAD but do not meet the updated inclusion criteria listed above Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
