Atlas of Human Cognition by SEEG (MAPCOG-SEEG)

This study is using depth electrode recordings (SEEG — stereoelectroencephalography) in patients who are already undergoing brain monitoring for surgical epilepsy evaluation to build a detailed map — or atlas — of human cognitive functions. SEEG involves placing thin electrodes directly into specific regions of the brain to record electrical activity, and patients with drug-resistant epilepsy routinely undergo this procedure as part of their pre-surgical workup. By recording brain activity while patients perform specific cognitive tasks (such as memory, language, and perception tasks), researchers can map which brain regions are responsible for which cognitive functions in a way that is not possible with external brain imaging alone. This knowledge will advance both the science of cognition and the safety of brain surgery. You may be eligible if: - You are between 18 and 65 years old - You have drug-resistant focal epilepsy - SEEG monitoring has already been recommended as part of your pre-surgical epilepsy evaluation - You have the cognitive ability to participate in structured cognitive tasks You may NOT be eligible if: - You are under a legal protection measure or deprived of liberty - You are pregnant (SEEG is contraindicated during pregnancy) - Language or cultural barriers prevent collection of relevant information Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
