Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This clinical trial, titled "Cap-assisted Endoscopic Sclerotherapy for Internal Hemorrhoids and Rectal Prolapse" (study ID: NCT03917056), is studying an endoscopic technique that uses a small cap attached to the tip of an endoscope to better visualize and treat internal hemorrhoids and rectal prolapse by injecting a sclerosing agent (a solution that shrinks the blood vessels). This minimally invasive approach aims to reduce symptoms without requiring conventional surgery. The study is open to patients with internal hemorrhoids and/or rectal prolapse who have completed bowel preparation for the procedure. Patients with grade IV hemorrhoids, severe complications like anal fissure or Crohn's disease, or who have received previous sclerotherapy are not eligible. You may be eligible if you: - Have internal hemorrhoids with or without rectal prolapse - Have completed bowel preparation for the procedure - Do not have grade IV severe internal hemorrhoids You may NOT be eligible if you: - Have previously had anoscopic or endoscopic sclerotherapy - Have acute thrombotic external hemorrhoids - Have grade IV internal hemorrhoids - Have anal stenosis, anal fissure, fistula, fecal incontinence, ulcerative colitis, or Crohn's disease - Have had acute diarrhea in the past 24 hours - Are pregnant, have uncontrolled high blood pressure, a history of stroke, or decompensated cirrhosis Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
