Researchers want to know whether losing a significant amount of weight through surgery helps the heart work better. **You may be eligible if...** - You are 18–70 years old - Your BMI is above 24 kg/m² - You are a patient at Beijing Friendship Hospital scheduled for bariatric surgery - You have a history of high blood pressure requiring two or more medications for at least 4 weeks **You may NOT be eligible if...** - Your high blood pressure has an identified cause (such as a hormonal condition), unless it is sleep apnea - You had a heart attack, heart failure, stroke, or heart procedure in the last 6 months - You have serious other diseases (autoimmune conditions, cancer, advanced liver or lung disease) - You cannot understand or comply with study procedures Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
