Conditions

Summary

Language is a signature human cognitive skill, but the precise computations that support language understanding remain unknown. This study aims to combine high-quality human neural data obtained through intracranial recordings with advances in computational modeling of human cognition to shed light on the construction and understanding of speech.

Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This research study uses intracranial brain recordings (already being done for medical purposes, such as epilepsy monitoring) to study how the human brain processes language. The goal is to develop computational models that describe brain activity during language tasks, which could eventually help build better brain-computer interfaces. You may be eligible if: - You are between 18 and 85 years old - You are already undergoing intracranial brain monitoring involving the left hemisphere for clinical reasons - You are able to understand and follow task instructions - You can give informed consent You may NOT be eligible if: - You cannot understand or perform the required language tasks - You are unwilling or unable to participate Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.

This summary was AI-generated to explain the trial in plain language. It is not medical advice. Always discuss eligibility with your doctor before enrolling in a clinical trial.
