Hospital Airway Resuscitation Trial

This study is comparing two methods of managing the airway (breathing tube placement) during cardiac arrest in hospitalized patients: a breathing mask held by hand versus early placement of a breathing tube (intubation), to see which leads to better survival. **You may be eligible if...** - You are 18 years or older - You are in the hospital for any reason - You have had a cardiac arrest (your heart stopped) inside the hospital and received at least 2 minutes of CPR - You need help breathing (assisted ventilation) **You may NOT be eligible if...** - Your cardiac arrest happened in an operating room or a location not covered by the critical care or emergency teams - You already had a breathing tube or tracheostomy in place when the cardiac arrest happened - You have a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) or Do Not Intubate (DNI) order Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
