Summary
The purpose of this study is to test a new ultrasound method called Quantitative Ultrasound Bladder Vibrometry to detect abnormal bladder function.
Eligibility
Min Age: 18 YearsMax Age: 90 Years
Plain Language Summary
Simplified for easier understanding
This study tests a non-invasive ultrasound technique to assess how well the bladder muscle (detrusor) is working in people with bladder problems. It compares the ultrasound measurements to traditional urodynamic study (UDS) tests — which involve bladder catheters. If the ultrasound works well, it could replace or complement uncomfortable invasive testing for diagnosing bladder dysfunction.
You may be eligible if:
- You are over 18 years old and scheduled for a standard bladder function test (urodynamics) for a bladder condition; OR
- You are over 45 years old and scheduled for prostate surgery (photovaporization)
You may NOT be eligible if:
- Your BMI is above 35
- You have a neurological disease affecting your bladder (e.g., spinal cord injury, MS, Parkinson's, prior stroke)
- You have had pelvic radiation therapy
- You have had major pelvic surgery (such as for cancer) or prior bladder surgery
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
