Summary
The primary objective of our study is to assess the effect of adding magnesium sulfate to the local anesthetic levobupivacaine in the rectus sheath block on the duration of the blockade. We hypothesize that the addition of magnesium sulfate will increase the duration of the block. The purpose of our research is to determine the quality and duration of postoperative analgesia after bilateral rectus sheath block (RSB) in colorectal surgeries with a midline laparotomy approach, as well as the total postoperative opioid consumption over 24 hours.
Eligibility

Interventions
After induction into general anesthesia, an experienced anesthesiologist will perform a bilateral rectus sheath block under ultrasound guidance. The rectus sheath block will include 30 ml of 0.25% Levobupivacaine with an addition of 500mg magnesium sulfate in total, with half the dose applied to one side and the other half to the opposite side. Adherence to intervention will be assessed through review of operative medical notes
