Plain Language Summary

Simplified for easier understanding

This pediatric dental study is comparing two types of root canal file systems — a rotating multi-file system and a single-file reciprocating system — for treating the baby teeth of children. When a child's primary (baby) molar needs a pulpectomy (a type of root canal for baby teeth), the instrument used to clean the canals can affect how efficient and comfortable the procedure is. This study aims to determine which system is faster, more effective, and more comfortable for children aged 4–8. Children with infected lower second baby molars who are already patients at the Pediatric Dentistry Department are enrolled. Both types of instruments will be compared on clinical and radiographic outcomes after treatment. You may be eligible if... - You are a child between 4 and 8 years old - You have a vital or non-vital lower second baby (temporary) molar needing treatment - Your tooth has at least two-thirds of the root remaining and at least 8mm root length - There is no significant bone or root resorption on X-ray - There is enough tooth structure left to place a stainless steel crown after treatment - You have previously had some restorative dental treatment at this clinic You may NOT be eligible if... - Your tooth has less than two-thirds of the root remaining - You have taken pain medications or anti-inflammatories in the last 12 hours - You are very uncooperative and require sedation - You have systemic (whole-body) diseases - You have special needs that affect dental cooperation Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
