Effects of Periodontal Treatment Associated With Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy on Halitosis in Patients With Diabetes Mellitus

This study is testing whether combining standard gum disease treatment with a light-based therapy (called antimicrobial photodynamic therapy) can reduce bad breath (halitosis) in people with both type 2 diabetes and serious gum disease. Both conditions affect mouth bacteria, and researchers want to see if the added treatment improves outcomes. **You may be eligible if...** - You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (per WHO criteria) - You have stage 3 or 4 periodontitis (severe gum disease) - You have not received gum disease treatment in the past 12 months - You have at least 20 remaining teeth **You may NOT be eligible if...** - You smoke - You have an alcohol dependence - You are pregnant or breastfeeding - You have kidney disease - You take medications that affect the gums (such as certain blood pressure drugs) Talk to your doctor to see if this trial is right for you.
